I purchased a new starter motor conversion kit for a Honda gz 390 engine made by yakamato. I received one that had been returned with scratches, dents and other signs of not being new. I should be refunded at least 33% of the total $120 price. I still need to modify flywheel since not same timing as original.

The bike will electric start but does as soon as you give it throttle. The kill switch is triggered by the vibrations. I would not recommend this product.

This is not a “plug and play” kit and there are no directions. You will need to source a positive battery cable, a ground cable and a mounting location for a battery. For a mechanically inclined person, the installation is fairly straight forward and I would recommend this kit. You can find some install videos on YouTube as well.

The product came with no instructions and no wire diagram so now I’m having trouble getting my engine to run

Had to modify by tapping engine block where screws are to thread in for the mag mount. Works good once installed. Helps save my back from pull starting all the time. Make sure you get a good size battery to help with the starting.
