Installation steps
- First, disconnect the battery cables. Locate the alternator on the vehicle. Use the serpentine belt tool to loosen the belt, followed by removing it from the alternator pulley. Put the bolts supporting the alternator back in place; the number of bolts should be at least 2 and no more than 4, depending on the make and model. Use a socket and ratchet to loosen and remove the bolts. Remove the alternator, then unplug and remove all nuts connecting the electrical components.
- NOTE: Check the new alternator and compare it to the old one to make sure the voltage calibrator and pulleys match before installing.
- After installation, if you find that the battery malfunction light is on and off, and the voltage is found to be unstable, please replace the fuse related to the generator, as the aging of the fuse will lead to unstable generator power output
- Reverse the process to install the new alternator. Connect the electrical plugs and wires on the new alternator. Once the alternator is slid into place, start bolting the old one in the correct position. Put the alternator pulley back in place and secure it.
