Had been having problems with my latch for some time and finally decided to look around to see how much replacing it would cost. When I saw the price, I thought it had to be wrong. Seemed like the right item though, so I bought it.WOW, what I nice unit! Good instructions. Popped it right in and it works like a charm. The tumbler is even settable to your truck key! Couldn’t ask for better…

The first one I received didn’t work. The key would not code with the lock. The instructions tell you to remove the protective seal over the key slot before inserting the key. The first one I received didn’t have that protective seal, and I suspect somebody had coded the lock with their key and then returned the handle to the seller. The second one had the plastic seal, telling me that no one else had messed with it before, and it worked perfectly. It only takes about 15 minutes to install. You need a 1/2″ socket and your key. Amazon gave me no hassle at all about returning the first one.

Replacement was easy and liked that you can use your ignition key for the lock.

This fit perfectly to my vehicle. The only negative point is: When the instllation was completed, it was time to get my key programmed, I followed the instructions step by step and when it was completed, it was impossible for me to unlock the handle, lucky me, I have been able to remove the handle and bring it to a professional to fix it, nothing major but during the process to program my key, he explain to me that a malfonction of a couple little parts from the lock system caused the problem. Other then that everything is working perfectly! I recommend this part.

Although the product is indeed as advertised, theres one issur I have to bring up. Even though it is claimed to be for my 03 Chevy Silverado, the tailgate begs to differ. The handle fits in just fine, but have the mounted casing with Key hole feature mounted requires some cutting to allow a proper fit. The Key feature works just as intended to.

This lock is pointless. The bezel doesn’t protect/cover the lock linkage. You can reach under and behind the handle to disengage the lock with your finger
