I have had 2 older motors that both bit the dust. After opening the motors after failure, it is easy to spot the culprit. Gear teeth fail due to over torque. Over torque occurs because you must hold the relay control switch until fully open or closed, and listen for the change in exhaust note. If you hold it too long, it puts excess torque on the motor and gears. These new motors have a unibody aluminum cover (cnc machined from cast billet). I am not sure if they are upgrading the gears or limiting the over torque, but at least they are updating the design and showing improvements.Request to QTP… Please consider offering a quick action alternative (like in the Z06 Vette). I really don’t like holding the relay switch for 10 seconds every time I open/close the cutouts…. And it’s easy to see that it tears up the gears. Even a cable driven system with a lever would be nice (no motor at all).

The motor should last longer than 1 year.

Motor doesn’t last long, burns out to easy. The old motor it difficult to get loose and the cheap allen screws strip out. Can’t do anything with it. QTP had a good idea of a product but needs to step up & try a little more quality. The motor could use a proximity switch to shut itself off or at lease an indicator light when fully open or closed to keep from burning up

Motor came out of the box defective. I have an existing cutout already installed so this should have been an easy, direct replacement. I plugged it in to test the unit before actually installing it and the motor was struggling even without being connecting to the actual mechanical valve. Sent back and awaiting a refund.
