This part number is incorrect. It does not fit the tilt and trim cylinder on a 1998 Johnson 50hp. This cap is way too small.

Wrong part for a 40/50 Johnson trim system. Looks more like it was made for a trim ram on a 3 ram system.
Buddy cutrell –
The cap was too small. Although the seals are right if you can take the seals out of the new cap and put them in your old cap it will work. But that’s a lot of money for two seals.
