I did a lot of research on single fire ignitions and decided on Ultima because of quality/price. I installed this in about an hour and fired it right up. Took a short ride, then the next day rode 120 miles. I found starting quicker, better idle, and most importantly a crisper throttle and waaaayyyy smoother acceleration. I have an ev3 cam, reworked carb, and big shot duals. The bike runs good, but this ignition put the finishing touches on everything. I am not sure how, but I also now get 46.5 mpg!!! I ride a lot of miles, and am very glad I finally went with this ignition over stock. As for the “cheap” coil several reviews have complained about…I am running it…several hundred miles and it works flawlessly. There are better coils out there I am sure, but truth is even a new hundred dollar coil can quit at anytime.3/15/14-update. Coil failed on rear cylinder. Emailed bkrider and it is waranteed for one year so they are sending another. Easy as that…so still happy. I suppose if this goes out I will order a crane coil.

This unit came with everything it needs to be applied to most vehicles. It’s fairly simple, and can be put on in around an hour. The diagram on the back helped in a huge way.However, the instruction do not mention anything about specific bikes. My bike, a 1996 Electra Glide, was part of a 4 year run where the switch we needed to wire to the ignition was a deutsch connector. So I had to figure out that the instructions were referencing a system used on every other bike but the 4 year run with the deutsch connectors. Bike’s not back together yet so I am definitely looking forward to a better running engine.

After several years of use, the Crane HI-4 in my Heritage decided to retire itself. I purchased the Ultima based on reviews from others and a recommendation of Ultima products from a builder that I trust. The Ultima ignition is basically a re-branded Dyna 2000, which is also a highly recommended unit.Since I had experience with the HI-4, setting up the Ultima was fairly straightforward. The directions were clear and concise. I was able to install the new ignition in less than 1/2 hour, including soldering and heat shrinking all of the connections. The kit does come with crimp on connectors, so no soldering skill is actually required, but in my application I opted to do so. Comparing the construction to the HI-4, the Ultima seems to be more robustly made, and the metal case should do a good job of dissipating heat. The cloth braid on the wiring harness is a nice touch and seems like it is very durable.I set the static timing and the bike fired right up. After dialing in the timing with my light, the bike actually idles better and seems to have a crisper throttle than it did with the Crane, which was an excellent unit for me up until it failed. I did not use the included coil or plug wires, because I bought the kit just as a precaution, just in case my problems extended to those areas. I did run the coil for a few minutes with no issues when I was getting everything going, but since my S/E coil still functioned perfectly, and I had already had great wires, the ones included with the kit will be kept for a backup or for future replacement.For the price, you can’t go wrong with the Ultima ingnition.

When my ignition module went in my chopper, I started looking at what one would be the best replacement for me. I decieded on this one and am glad I did. I installed it and static timed it and now my bike runs better than it ever has. Great price for a dependable ignition module. I’d replace a stock one for this in my next bike too.

After receiving the product and opening the box, I looked over all the parts. Everything was there that I needed for installation. Each part was in great condition. I really liked the selectivity of the module with its multiple selector switches.

Had upgraded my 97′ Road King’s ignition module to a single-fire system years ago using a Compufire ignition module and Dynatek coils. That system started to misfire recently, and I wasn’t sure if the problem was the coils or ignition module. Ultima offered a complete, all-inclusive, package with single-fire coils, ignition module, and plug wires at a very economical price. Ultima uses the stock style pickup and offers selectable timing curves and upper rpm cutoff as I had with the Compufire module.Pros: all-inclusive parts for ignition upgrade, good performance, selectable timing curves to match your engine and mods, very economical price.Cons: written instructions are not very detailed and could use some pictures to aid installation. No instruction on attaching spark plug wire connections.

1988 flhtc… The stock pickup melted as they do. Purchased a new one. This time the ignition box died as well. Thought now would be a good time to upgrade. Oh boy this kit was a treat. Marked the inside of the nose cone where the old pickup was set. Installed this with the new coil. Fired up instantly. It’s hard to say if this product made any horse power increase. But I will definitely be installing this product on any 80ci HD motor that comes through with a failed pickup.
